Tanzania is a beautiful country to visit all year around, but like most countries you do have different seasons.  During the month of April and May, you normally have the rainy season in Tanzania, the landscape is greener, but you will have some rain during your trip.

June to October is the dry season and November to mid December, you have the short rainy season where you might have some short rains. From mid-December to March is the dry hot season.

There are no mandatory vaccinations when travelling to Tanzania. Yellow Fever vaccinations can be required if you travel from an epidemic country or transit more then 12 hours in an epidemic country.
We do recommend that you do have hepatitis A and B vaccination and typhoid.

We also always recommend you consult with a doctor at home before traveling to make sure you have the necessary vaccinations for you for your trip.

We always recommend you take out your own travel insurance for the trip in case of a late cancellation or that you will have to change your plans.

When traveling to Tanzania, most countries will require a tourist visa. You can either apply for it beforehand or do visa upon arrival.

If you decide to apply for the visa beforehand, we do recommend you apply for it three to four week in advance on your trip at the Immigration website of Tanzania.

Important to know, your passport needs to have minimum 6 months validity after your trip is done to be able to get a visa to Tanzania. If your passport is about to expire, you should apply for a new passport before doing the visa process.

Tanzanian Shilling is the official currency in Tanzania. Most lodges will accept USD, so it can be good to have some with you, but we do always also recommend you pass by an ATM so withdraw some local currency if you would like to purchase some memories.

When going on safari, we do recommend you bring lighter more neutral colours since some insects can be attracted to darker colours. Depending on the season, it can sometimes be a bit chilly in the morning and evening so a small jacket or sweater can be good to bring, while during the day long trousers or shorts and t-shirt can be enough. Tanzania is a sunny country, so don't forget to pack your hat, sunscreen and insect repellant.

Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) is the closest international airport to Arusha and is about 60 km drive from Arusha City Center.

If you would fly into Zanzibar or Dar Es Salaam, you can also fly into Arusha Airport (ARK), which is the domestic airport in Arusha.

One of the UNESCOs worlds wonder, is to witness the wildebeest migration in Tanzania in Serengeti National Park. Around 1,5 Million wildebeest and zebras and antelopes migrate around the national park during the year, in search for food. The most famous passing is when the wildebeest cross the Mara River in Northern Serengeti, coming face to face with crocodiles. The Mara River crossing takes place from end of July to end of September, before the wildebeest move on.

Since the wildebeest migrate all year around, we will be able to create a itinerary with the migration in Serengeti whenever you are interested in visiting us here in Tanzania, so you are able to witness this natural world wonder yourself.
